Erin earned her degree from Kenyon College in Studio Art. She then received her Master's Degree from Columbia University's Teachers College in Art and Art Education. She has been dedicated to urban education primarily focusing on teaching literacy through the arts. Her beginning teaching was centered in the South Bronx of New York City and she is presently teaching in the Fort Greene area of Brooklyn at a public school for special education students.

Erin Says:

"China was really a gift for me. I was able to see a new culture as a brief member of it. I really enjoyed the art of teaching and truly fell in love with my students. Each day was quietly fascinating from the rickety bus trips into town and each humbled visit to the local temples. The Chinese people could not have been more kind or more accepting into their homes and hearts. I feel very blessed to have had the experience to live in China. It was mind blowing. Each day was new. Now that I am back, my mind mind wanders back to the heat, the food, the streets, and the people. The city sounds remind me of my summer and smile to myself. I feel really changed."
